It was a bright sunny day. Hanon, Luchia and Rina were doing their respective work, when the door bell rang.

“I’ll get it”, Hanon said and she opened the door, while Luchia and Rina were standing behind her. There, she saw a girl standing in front of her, probably of her age. She had reddish-blonde hair, and a fair-tone skin. “Hanon-sama?” she said. “Do I know you?” Hanon questioned. “Ah! I’m Krystal, don’t you remember me?” the girl questioned back. Hanon stood still for a while. “Of course you don’t, you’ve probably never seen me, but you must have heard about me, I’m the new princess of the South Atlantic Ocean”, Krystal said.  “Oh… now I think I know you, you’re the blue pearl princess, a cousin of mine”, Hanon said, still a bit confused. “But – what are you doing here, Krystal-sama?” “I called her”, a voice said from the back.

They soon realized that it was Hippo.

“Hippo! Now why would you call the princess of the South Atlantic Ocean, all the way to earth?” Luchia asked. “There have been a lot of strange things going on in the South Atlantic Ocean. It was not safe for Princess Krystal to stay there, so I thought, she could stay with her partner, Hanon”, Hippo answered. “Partner?” Hanon asked. “She is sharing the Princess’s crown with you, so isn’t she your partner?” said Hippo. “But – what on earth is going on at my home?” Hanon asked in a high tone pitch.

“I don’t think it’s much serious but – people have been acting strange. They are leaving they’re loved one’s and going off with other people”, Krystal said. Hanon, Luchia and Rina stayed quiet for a while. “I don’t understand”, Rina said. “I mean to say- that there’s some spell – I think, that is changing the feeling towards the people. For example, a person is leaving his wife and goes off with some other girl, while the lady leaves her husband and goes with some other person, almost everyone is doing that”, she said. “And you think it’s not serious!” Hanon exclaimed. “What about my mom and dad?” “Don’t worry, they are safe, they have taken shelter in the Pacific Ocean, if I’m not wrong, Princess Luchia’s home”, Krystal said. “And, the spell seems to be spreading everywhere”, Hippo added. “Oh boy, this is not good!” Luchia said.

After a short discussion over the topic, Hanon, Luchia and Rina decide that Krystal should stay on earth for a while so that they can together think of something and save their respective home.

The next day, Krystal heads towards the school along with the trio-mermaids.

“Ah, Luchia!” a voice said from the back. “Kaito!” Luchia exclaimed. “You didn’t come to the school yesterday, so I was a bit worried”, Kaito said. “No – nothing like that. Krystal, a cousin of Hanon came”, she replied. “Oh, so now I see. So where are they?” he questioned. “Come to think of it, I don’t really know, they were just behind me… now where did they go”, Luchia mumbled. “Hey, what’s going on over there?” Kaito pointed towards a huge crowd of boys, they headed towards them and soon noticed that Krystal, Hanon and Rina were surrounded by the school-boys all over.

“What’s you’re name?” “Where are you from?” “What are you doing here?” “Do you have a boyfriend?” The boys shouted.

“So I guess this is the cousin of Hanon, she’s quite popular among the boys”, Kaito giggled. “Kaito! Now won’t you help us?” Luchia growled.

“Ok-ok, the show is over, go back to your classes… move off now”, Kaito made his way through the crowd and soon, shunted them off. “Thanks in there, you saved my life”, Krystal said. “And you are -?” “He’s Kaito, Luchia’s boyfriend”, Rina said. “We gotta go to the class now, it’s really late else we’ll have to know each other in the detention instead of a café, Ms. Krystal”, Kaito smiled. Krystal didn’t really look happy hearing that.

After a while, they headed towards their classroom. Krystal sat with Hanon.

“Hanon-sama, is that Kaito really Luchia’s boyfriend? I mean, he’s a total flirt!” Krystal exclaimed. Hanon laughed a bit. “Don’t worry, it’s his nature but he loves Luchia a lot so you don’t need to worry about that.”

After the school was over, Kaito invited Luchia, Hanon, Rina and Krystal to join him at a nearby café and see him surfing and of course, they did not disappoint him.

“Go Kaito!” Luchia cheered as Kaito flew on the water with his surf-board. “I hate to say this, but he’s good”, Krystal said.

Suddenly, the sea was seen to be getting angry. Large waves had surrounded Kaito. Somehow, he got out but immediately lost his consciousness.

The next time he opened his eyes, he saw Krystal in front of him, later he realized that he was surrounded by Luchia, Hanon, Rina and Krystal at Luchia’s home. He stood up.

“Kaito! Are you alright”, Luchia asked, a bit tensed. Kaito rubbed his head for a moment and looked around. “Yeah, I guess. W-what happened in there?” he asked. “A thunder-storm, don’t worry, it’s all back to normal now”, Krystal said. Before Kaito could say things any further, he heard a male voice calling Krystal. Later, a boy stood in front of him.

“Ah! So he’s awake!” he said. “You -?” Kaito glared at him. “Em – he’s Devin, my fiancé”, Krystal said. “Fiancé?!” Kaito exclaimed. “But you must be only fourteen or something like that.” “Yeah, in our world, marriages are fixed a lot earlier. By the way, he is the one who carried you all the way here, you shall be thankful to him”, Krystal said. “Ah no, no, that’s alright. It was my fault after all”, he said. Kaito stayed silent but with a confused look. “Em – yeah, now how shall I explain? Luchia, he does know about your identity, doesn’t he? I’m afraid if I’ve said something extra”, he confirmed. (Note: The ‘real identity’ here refers to the ‘mermaid identity’ of Luchia; this explains that the story is in reference with the second season or the end of the first season of Mermaid melody Pitchi Pitch) “No, he is aware of it”, Luchia replied. “Ok then. The arrival of mine caused some kind of sonic energy that forced the waves to push their way up, don’t worry, you’ll be alright”, he smiled. “Oh-k, anyways, thanks. You saved my life. Ah- Luchia, I think I should head back at home now, I’m not really feeling like me right now, I’ll see you at school tomorrow. Bye”, Kaito headed towards the door.

“I think even I should go back now, bye Hanon, Luchia, Krystal”, Rina said. “Bye Devin.” “Bye”, all waved at her as they saw her face disappear.

[Next day at school]

“Kaito!” Luchia shouted (Hanon, Rina, Krystal and Devin behind her) as she saw Kaito in the class room. “You look a lot better now.” “Yeah, I think I’m back to normal now. By the way, summer vacations are just around the corner, you guys planned anything?” he asked. “No, not really”, Luchia nodded. “I got an idea; I’m going to the mountains in the north of Japan. You guys wanna come – with ‘you guys’ I mean Krystal and her fiancé too, and of course, along with Hanon and Rina”, Kaito asked. “No, I don’t think I’m interested”, Krystal said bluntly. “Krystal! Of course we would come”, Devin said. “Thanks, the train leaves tomorrow sharp at 6:00 am, so don’t be late”, he said.

“Devin, I don’t want to go with Kaito”, Krystal said. “Come-on now, you’ve gotta learn how to be social”, Devin said. “I don’t know… I feel something fishy about that Kaito guy.” “Now what could be wrong with him, and why are you worried when I’m with you. C’mon, you’re not that beautiful that he would flirt with you”, he joked. “So not funny”, she replied to his joke.

[Next day at station]

“Hey! Kaito!” Luchia exclaimed as she saw Kaito on the station. “Ah! Hi! Glad you guys made it in time. So, ready?” he asked. Everyone nodded except for Krystal.

[On the train]

“Hi, I’ve noticed, you haven’t said anything since you arrived”, Kaito spoke to Krystal (Hanon, Luchia, Rina and Devin not around, on their respective seats). Krystal remained silent. “Is that seat empty”, he asked pointing at the seat besides Krystal. This time, she spoke. “No, Devin is going to sit here.” “Oh well, I think he is busy with the others”, Kaito said pointing at Devin, who was chatting with the girls. Krystal’s face turned red due to anger. “Devin!” she shouted. Devin looked at her. “What is it?” he asked. “Aren’t you gonna sit with me?” she asked. “Ah – I was kind of busy with your friends”, he answered. “Now how busy can you be to not give time to your fiancé”, she questioned angrily. “Ah, don’t worry Devin, you carry on, I’ll keep her company”, Kaito poked in. “Thanks, man!” Devin exclaimed. Kaito sat besides Krystal.

“So, you’re a cousin of Hanon”, he said. “Any problem with that?” Krystal interrogated coldly. “Oh no, how can I ever have problem with you”, he laughed. “Now look Mr. Flirt, stay away from me. I already got a fiancé who loves me and whom I love so keep your butt off me”, she said. “Oh my, you really look cute when you’re angry”, Kaito said. Krystal got up from the seat and literally pulled Devin to some other seat and sat besides him.

“What’s wrong with you? You’re acting so strange these days!” Devin exclaimed. “Oh thanks for noticing sweetheart”, she said angrily. “That Kaito guy – he’s flirting with me and you don’t have a clue!” “Now come-on, Kaito is a nice guy and loves Luchia a lot, now why would he flirt with you when he knows that I’m your fiancé?” Devin asked. “How can I know? And for god sake, care about me, you can’t leave me alone with some guy”, she said. “He is not ‘some’ guy, I trust him”, Devin said. “Oh wow, wow, you trust that Kaito but not me! You disgust me”, Krystal argued. “Oh yeah, then maybe I shall go away from here”, Devin left and sat on some other seat, making Krystal extremely angry. To make matters worst, Kaito (again) sat besides Krystal.

“What is it with you”, Krystal asked angrily. “I’m in love with you”, Kaito winked at her. Krystal’s face turned red, this time, not because of anger, but due to embarrassment. “Please leave me alone”, she said, this time not in such a cruel voice as before. “How can I do that”, Kaito placed his hand on Krystal’s. Krystal’s face turned even red. Luckily, they had reached the place.

[After they moved out of the train]

“Hanon-Sama, Rina-Sama, can I talk to your for a moment?” Krystal asked. Hanon and Rina exchanged a ‘look’. “Yeah?” they said.

Krystal took them to corner.

“What is it?” Hanon asked. “It’s – Kaito”, Krystal replied. “Kaito?” Rina said. “Yeah, he’s acting, kind of strange. He -”, before Krystal could continue, Kaito called from the back. “Hey, hurry up, or else we’ll miss the fun!” “We’ll talk later”, Rina said, joining Kaito, Luchia and Devin along with Hanon and Krystal.

Kaito leaded them to a huge and palatial cottage.

“This is beautiful!” Luchia exclaimed, taking a look around. “This is the girl’s room, and this is where I and Devin will stay”, Kaito showed the rooms. “Great then, let’s get freshen, and see what do we have to do for the dinner”, Devin said. All agreed though Krystal had no expression on her face.

“So Krystal, what is it that you wanted to say about Kaito?” Rina asked once they were in the room. Luchia looked up to Krystal. “Ah – I – actually -”, she hesitated in front of Luchia. ‘What is it?” Hanon questioned. “He said that he loves – Luchia a lot”, she lied. “Ahhhh! That’s so sweet of him to say so”, Hanon rolled around while Luchia blushed.

“I’m going to see if the boys are ready, anyone coming with me?” Hanon asked. “I’m in!” Luchia said. “Ok then, we’ll see you in a minute”, Hanon said, leaving along with Luchia.

“Krystal, did you really meant to say about Kaito what you just did?” Rina asked. Krystal stayed still for a while and then spoke. “No. I don’t know how to start –” “Just speak your mind out”, Rina said. “He – he said that he – loves me”, she finally said.

“Huh? He must be joking”, Rina said. Krystal nodded a no. “I don’t think so; at least that’s what his expressions said.” “I – I don’t get it. He was in love with Luchia madly just before you arrived, so how can – could that spell from your home travel till here?” Rina asked. “Not possible. How would it?” Krystal said. “You got a point there. No matter what, we have to tell this to Luchia”, she said.

“Hey, we’re back!” Hanon said, entering along with Luchia. Rina looked at Krystal. “Luchia – we need to tell you something about – Kaito”, Krystal said.

Rina and Krystal explained.

Hanon and Luchia stood still for a while.

“What?!” Luchia exclaimed. “I don’t know what’s going on, maybe he’s just fooling around but –“, Krystal said but was interrupted by Luchia. “Of course he’s joking!” Luchia exclaimed. “Luchia – you don’t have to mention even a single word to Kaito or Devin about this, you get it? Same goes for you, Hanon”, Rina said.

“Knock, knock, anyone home?” it was Devin. “We decided that we’re going to have a born-fire dinner.” “We’ll be right there”, Krystal answered.

“Krystal, are you sure that Kaito meant what he said?” Luchia asked. “I don’t really know. He might just be joking, don’t worry, I think everything we’ll be alright”, Krystal replied.

“Ah! So you are here, Krystal, Luchia. Hm… so let’s see what we have in here to eat”, Kaito said. “Kaito – what will we be doing for the coming days?” Luchia asked. “Ah, we’ll go for ice-skating and skiing and I guarantee you, we’ll have lots of fun, right?” Kaito said. Luchia nodded. Maybe he was joking, he seems to be normal with me and Krystal, she thought.

“So, Krystal”, Kaito said. “For how many days are you on earth?” “It’s not decided, it depends how much time it would take to figure out what’s going on in the South Atlantic Ocean”, Devin answered in place of Krystal. “Then I wish that the problem shall go on forever”, Kaito laughed in a low pitch. Devin had a weird expression on his face and so did everyone else.

“Krystal-Sama, maybe you were right about Kaito, he’s changing”, Hanon said. “I don’t know what’s going on in here”, Luchia said, with almost tears in her eyes. “Luchia-Sama, don’t worry, I don’t love Kaito at all, even I’m worried what’s happening here”, Krystal condoled.

After a minute or two, Devin entered, without even a knock.

“Krystal, what’s going on?” he asked angrily. “Between you and Kaito?” “Thanks for noticing, sweetheart”, she joked with her angry face on. “I told you from the very beginning that he’s flirting with me but no! You would trust him but not me!” “But – doesn’t he love you, Luchia?” he asked. “That’s what I thought”, she said sadly. “You mean, you guys have no idea what’s going on?” he interrogated. “I’m afraid, not”, Rina replied. “We’re worried too”, Hanon added.

“What are you worried about?” suddenly, Kaito entered. “Kaito – what –”, Devin tried to continue but was interrupted by Krystal. “Nothing at all, of course.” Devin exchanged angry looks with Krystal. “Great then, tomorrow we’ll be going to ski. Devin, can I have a moment with you?” Kaito asked. Devin stayed still for a moment or two thinking what’s going on in Kaito’s head. “Em – ok, sure”, he spoke finally. “I’ll see you later, Krystal. Take care.” “Yeah, you too.”

[Next day]

“Hey Devin! Wait up!” Krystal shouted as she saw Devin in the breakfast hall. “Yeah? What happened?” he asked. “That’s what I was going to ask. What happened yesterday? What did Kaito say?” she questioned back. “Oh nothing, he was just talking about the holiday plans”, he replied. “You sure?” Krystal interrogated with a suspicious face. “Definitely.”

[After the breakfast]

Krystal, along with the trio-mermaid, headed towards the boys’ room. After the knock, Kaito opened the door.

“Are you ready to ski?” Luchia asked Kaito. “I sure am, but I don’t think Devin is”, he replied. “Why!? What happened to him?” Krystal asked, going deeper in the room. “He’s on the bed”, Kaito pointed. “He wasn’t feeling well.” Devin opened his eyes. “Are you alright?” Krystal asked. “I don’t think so. My body is aching badly and I’ve got a real bad headache”, he replied. “What did you do to him?!” Krystal shouted on Kaito. “What – me?” Kaito questioned. “No – he didn’t do anything. I think it was something I ate”, Devin said. “A-are you sure?” Krystal asked. Devin nodded. “So, ready to ski?” Kaito asked. “Shut up! How can I go to ski if Devin is ill?” Krystal questioned angrily. “That’s right. Let her stay here with Devin”, Hanon added. “Oh come-on!” Kaito said. “Krystal, you go. I don’t want you to miss the fun because of me”, Devin said. “But –”, she said. “Please?” he interrupted. Krystal nodded. “Ok, if that’s what you wish me to do.”

Hanon, Krystal, Luchia, Rina and Kaito picked up their skis and headed in the snow.

“Kaito, you go on, we’ll catch you in a minute”, Luchia said. “Alright, as you guys wish”, Kaito said, skiing off.

“What happened?” Hanon asked Luchia. “I can’t stand it! We have to know what’s going on”, Luchia replied. “And for that, I’ve got a plan.” The other three stood bewildered until Luchia continued.

“Krystal, you have to play along with him”, she said. “What?! Luchia-Sama, have you gone crazy?” Krystal reacted. “I said play along not to fall in love with him”, Luchia started to explain. “When he has full confidence that you love him, he might tell you what’s on his mind.” “I get the point now”, Rina said. “But – what if he tries to do something bad or – you know?” Krystal questioned. “I don’t think he would do anything like that”, Hanon said. “And if he does, we’ll be there, we’ll be there to distract him”, Luchia added. “But –”, Krystal said. “Please, come-on, you gotta do this!” Luchia insisted. Krystal nodded. “Alright.”

“Hey Kaito! Wait up!” Krystal shouted. “Ah! Krystal! What took you so long?” he asked. “Ah – nothing at all. A – em… do you wanna ski together?” she asked. “I would love it”, Kaito took a hold of Krystal’s hand and pulled her together and went off to ski.

It’s working, Luchia said to herself.

“So, how did you end up skiing with me?” Kaito asked Krystal (Luchia, Hanon and Rina way behind). “Ah – em – I – actually -”, she said while Kaito glared at her as if she was an antique. “Just – you know, -…” “Because you love me too?” Kaito added a question. Krystal stopped skiing for a while. I don’t know what to say. If I say yes, I don’t know what would happen and how he would react, and if I say no – Luchia-Sama -…, she mumbled to herself. “What’s wrong?” he asked. “Nothing”, she replied. “So, what’s the answer?” he questioned again. “Y – I – ye – yes”, Krystal spoke, hesitated. “Ah! I knew you would say that”, he said. “But what will you say to Devin? Shall I speak to him?” “NO WAY! I mean – there’s no need to tell him anything”, she reacted to his statement. “What – I mean, why did you – leave Luchia?” This is the question, that’s what Luchia-Sama wants to know. “Because I got drowned in your ocean blue eyes”, Kaito answered. Krystal turned red fully. “I – that’s not the answer I wanted”, she said. “Then what do you want me to say? I’ll do that”, he smiled.

“Krystal!”

“Ah! Devin! It’s you!” Krystal saw her fiancé coming from the back. “You look a whole lot better now!” “Yeah, I was feeling a bit fine so I thought I’d join you all. So, what’s up?” “N-nothing at all”, she lied.

“Kaito! Krystal! Devin!” the trio-mermaids were catching up.

“Krystal-Sama, are you fine?” Hanon asked in a low tone so that Kaito or Devin couldn’t hear her. Krystal nodded. “We saw Devin catching up, so we speeded too”, Rina said.”Great! So Krystal, are you going to tell Devin or shall I?” Kaito asked. (Note: This refers to Kaito asking to Krystal if she’s going to tell Devin that she loves Kaito or Kaito shall do it) “N- NO!” Krystal shouted. “Huh?” Devin reacted to her shout. “Nothing, these both are just joking around”, Luchia covered. “No, we’re not”, Kaito said. “Ha-ha, see, another joke. Oh Kaito! You’re so funny!” Luchia said half-heartedly. “Devin, let’s ski together.” Luchia literally pulled Devin and gave a sign to Hanon and Rina to come along.

“I – I think we should head back too”, Krystal suggested. “What’s the rush? We’re all alone”, Kaito said.

Oh no, what’s he going to do now?

“N-no, actually, I’m seriously starving – please?” she insisted. “Alright, alright, maybe some other time”, he said while skiing, Krystal following.

[Back at the cottage, lunch room]

“Luchia-Sama”, Krystal said. “W-what happened?” Luchia questioned. “Nothing, but I’m afraid if I would ever be able to find out what’s going on in Kaito’s mind”, she replied. “I think I shall tell Devin all about it.” Luchia nodded, “As you wish.”

 “Hey, Krystal!” Devin came into the scene. “Ah! We were just talking about you”, Krystal said. “Hm… yeah?” he asked.

[Krystal explains]

“So what?” Devin said, astonishing both Krystal and Luchia. “W-what did you say?” Krystal questioned. “I said, so what? What’s the problem if he loves you?” “Have you gone crazy?! Krystal is your fiancée, now isn’t she?” Luchia said. “My fiancée, we’re not married”, he said. “I’ll see you later.”

“W-what just happened here?” she asked Luchia, who herself was bewildered. Meanwhile, Hanon and Rina had heard everything.

Just when Krystal was going to break off and let her tears flow, Hanon helped her.

“Krystal, don’t worry, everything would be alright”, she said. [Note: Please notice that this is the first time that Hanon called Krystal with her name only, else, she always called her Krystal-Sama, offering her respect and being more formal.] “How can everything be alright? Kaito has changed, and now so has Devin! I don’t what has happened to them”, she finally wept. “Krystal, control your tears, Kaito is coming”, Rina said.

“Hey there, Krystal, Luchia, Hanon, Rina”, he greeted. “A – hi”, Hanon and Rina said together while Krystal and Luchia remained silent. “What’s going on? he asked. “Nothing”, Rina said. “We were just having a little conversation.” “I hate to say this, but our adventure ends tomorrow”, he said. “You mean – we’re going back already?” Luchia asked. “I’m afraid, yes”, he answered. “Hey, Kaito, you coming?” Devin shouted. “Got to go now, see you tomorrow, ladies”, Kaito left.

[In the room]

“What have we done, instead of finding out why Kaito is acting strange, even Devin -?” Krystal mumbled with tears. “Krystal, you’ve got to be bold”, Hanon said. “But – what on earth is going on with these two?” “It’s too late to think right now, we have to wake up early tomorrow, we’ll talk about it later”, Rina said, getting in her bed. “Good night.”

[Next Day]

“Good morning, you all! It’s a lovely day, perfect weather to travel back!” Kaito exclaimed [Devin standing at the back, silent]. “Yeah, right”, Hanon said.

[In the train, Hanon, Rina, Luchia and Devin sat together while Krystal was forced to sit with Kaito]

“So, did you enjoy?” Kaito asked. My foot I enjoyed, this was the worst trip of my life – Devin, why did you do this to me? Krystal thought. “Sure, it was great.” “I knew it would be great with me”, Kaito smiled. I can’t tolerate him anymore, he’s annoying me like hell, oh goodness, help me to pass through it!

[Back at Luchia’s home (Pearl Pari)]

Krystal was seen packing her bag, by Hanon, Luchia, Rina and Hippo.

“What’s going on? Are you going back, Krystal-Sama?” Hippo questioned. “Y-yes, thanks for inviting me, Hippo”, she said, wiping off her tears. “Now what could have happened with Krystal-Sama?” Hippo asked but after seeing Hanon, Luchia and Rina’s gloomy face, he left the room.

“Krystal, are you sure you want to do this?” Luchia asked. “I’m sorry, Luchia-Sama, that I couldn’t help you with Kaito”, she said. “No, I shall be the one to apologize, it’s because of me that Devin is acting like that with you”, Luchia spoke. “That’s ok”, she replied. “For how much longer are you here?” Rina asked. “Half an hour, maybe. I’ll leave as soon as my bag is packed”, Krystal said. “Krystal, we’ll miss you”, Hanon said. “Me too, Hanon-Sama.”

[Hanon, Luchia and Rina moved out of the room. They decided to head to the beach where they saw Kaito and Devin fighting]

“Kaito! What’s going on! Why are you two fighting?” Luchia interrogated in an angry tone. “Krystal, where is she?” Devin asked. “A- she’s at the Pearl Pari”, Luchia answered. “Devin, what’s wrong with you, a minute before you didn’t care for Krystal and –”, Luchia said, but was interrupted. “It’s all because of Kaito”, Devin said. “W-what?” Hanon, Luchia and Rina asked together.

[Devin explained that Kaito had casted some strong spell on him, in which, he had forgot the original feelings for Krystal, slowly and slowly, the spell was diminishing]

“Kaito -”, Luchia said. “What the problem with you all! Can’t you understand that I love Krystal?” Kaito asked. “Devin, run, go to the Pearl Pari, Krystal is soon going to leave”, Hanon said as Devin went off to apologize to Krystal for what he had done.

“Kaito! What’s wrong with you?” Luchia asked. “Wrong, with me? What’s wrong with you?” he questioned back.  “Why are you after me like hell?” “You fool! That is because she loves you and cares about you”, Rina said. “But I don’t, you get it – leave me alone!” he exclaimed.

Just then, Hippo arrived with Krystal and Devin.

“Luchia-Sama!” he shouted. “Hippo! What are you doing here?” Luchia asked. “Luchia-sama! I found out why Kaito and everyone in the South Atlantic Ocean is acting strange, it’s all inter-related”, he continued. “It’s the dark love shells which are found under the ocean, they create some spell on the person who touches them and that person falls in love with the person he first sees after opening his eyes.” “Now I get it! When Devin had come, Kaito was surfing, and the waves had almost drowned him. He must have seen the shells, intentionally or unintentionally, he touched them and the spell began. And the person he first saw when he opened his eyes was Krystal, you remember?” Rina asked. “Kaito has inhuman abilities, as we all know, he casted some spell on Devin to keep him away from Krystal under the spell of the shells”, Hippo added. [Note: The ‘inhuman abilities’ of Kaito has been described here. I don’t know much about it as I could only see till 40 ep.s of Mermaid Melody Pitchi Pitch but I read so in wikepedia.org]

“What do we do finish all of this?” Luchia asked Hippo. “Here, take this”, he said handing Luchia a small bottle. “It’s an antidote that Taki-San gave me, but you can have some to cure Kaito”, Krystal said.

[As Hippo and Krystal had said about the antidote, it cured Kaito and he was back to normal. After apologizing to Luchia, Krystal and Devin for his unintentional behavior, he waved Krystal and Devin as they left for their own home in the South Atlantic Ocean. They soon heard the news that Krystal and Devin got married after a few months and lived happily ever after]

So now you know what happened to Kaito :P
